Workshops for Children - Year 5, 6 & 7

Reducing Anxiety and self-calming:

This workshop programme will be over 4 weeks – it is a group workshop with maximum of 4 in the group.

The group is aimed at teenagers attending mainstream school who are suffering from anxiety but have NOT been assessed or are currently working with CAMHS or on medication for anxiety. All participants need to be willing to attend.


Week one:

What is anxiety?

Physical effects of anxiety

Mental effects of anxiety

Triggers for anxiety

How it effects everyday life and family time

Take away activity – completing an anxiety diary

Week two:

Reviewing the diary – my triggers and understanding them

Techniques for reducing anxiety

Take away activity – choosing one technique to use during the week

Week Three:

Reviewing week and technique

Overcoming different situations

Practicing techniques

Take away activity – reviewing technique

Week Four:

Explaining and understanding your emotions

Recapping on Techniques

Sharing experiences and creating what to do flowcharts
